Tacan Circulator

TACAN stands for 'TACtical Air Navigation' and is a military navigation system used by aircraft. It operates between 960-1215 MHz and supplies the user (pilot) information with regard to range and bearing from a ground or ship based beacon. The airborne equipment will include a transmitter and receiver with the necessary demodulating capability to interpret the information supplied by the beacon. The ground or ship based equipment will have a beacon with a rotating antenna system. Modern systems have extended the capability to include and air to air mode which allows two airborne users relative slant-range information.More.

Our Products

RF & Noise Components have a number of circulator products that have been used in TACAN equipment. Due to the nature of the ground based transmitters it is necessary for the circulator to be able to operate with relatively high peak powers normally in excess of 1.5KW.
